ABOUT us

JJsLogo1.jpg

JJ's Gymnastics Academy is run from our wonderful new friendly venue in Pontefract.

JJ's  was founded almost 35 years ago and was originally run from Featherstone school and formerly called Featherstone Gymnastics Club. . Approximately 20 years ago we moved to Airedale High School as it offered much needed larger premises and storage area.

After all of those years we have finally moved to our very own venue and as no longer in Featherstone it made sense to change the name. JJ's Gymnastics Academy (as its now called) is named after the late John Jefferies who was the original founder of the club all those years ago.

The club is run by a wonderful friendly team of volunteers and offer both general and women’s artistic gymnastics. We are affiliated to British Gymnastics and compete in competitions from Yorkshire through to National level.

Classes

We offer badge classes for all ages from 4yrs and offer classes to both girls and boys.

We also offer advanced badge classes, recreational classes, pre-squads and we have two competitive squads training from low level competitions to regional and national in women’s artistic.

Please get in touch for more information, class times.

Gymnast on a Wooden Bar

We start training gymnasts from as young as 4yrs old. Generally starting in our badge classes where they learn all the basic shapes and fundamentals of gymnastics. This is a key stage to anyone who enters into a journey in gymnastics.

We are primarily a Women's Artistic Disciplined gymnastics club and cover :

Floor

Bars

Beam

Vault

Range of Conditioning.

We have advanced badge classes which take that confidence to a higher level and train to perform the basics across all pieces of equipment.

We also have two developmental squads for both young age to teenage years and these gymnasts train more hours and learn to link moves, dance, perform and presentation

This leads to the two main squads of our club which are both competing squads from low level up to regional and national level.
